Project description

To improve the performance and reliability of a critical step in its manufacturing process, an industrial client engaged Egzatek to design and manufacture a cutting system fully tailored to its operational requirements. The project was part of an equipment improvement initiative following a pre-engineering study conducted to define functional requirements, integration constraints, and performance objectives.

The selected approach involved developing a fully customized solution specifically designed to integrate with the client’s existing facilities. Egzatek’s engineering teams were responsible for the system’s mechanical design, integration of pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical components, and preparation of manufacturing and assembly drawings. The objective was to deliver a robust, safe, and production-ready solution.

Once the design phase was completed, the equipment was manufactured and assembled at Egzatek’s facilities before undergoing functional testing to validate performance prior to delivery. This preassembly phase reduced installation risks and accelerated system start-up at the client’s site.

The mandate continued at the client’s facility with mechanical installation, integration into existing infrastructure, final adjustments, and complete commissioning. Egzatek supported the client through validation under real production conditions, ensuring a smooth transition between development and day-to-day operation.

Key work completed

  1. Technical analysis based on pre-engineering studies and client specifications.
  2. Complete mechanical design of a custom industrial cutting system.
  3. Selection and integration of mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical components.
  4. Production of manufacturing, assembly, and installation drawings.
  5. Complete fabrication of the equipment structure and components.
  6. Assembly and functional validation of the system prior to shipment.
  7. Project management and installation planning.
  8. Transportation, rigging, and positioning of equipment at the client site.
  9. Mechanical installation and integration with existing equipment.
  10. Operational adjustments and performance optimization following start-up.
  11. Complete commissioning of the equipment in a production environment.
  12. Operational team support and final system performance validation.

The operational impact

This project allowed the client to benefit from equipment specifically designed to meet the requirements of its manufacturing process rather than adapting a standard solution to its production environment. This customized approach promotes better integration with existing equipment while addressing the facility’s unique constraints.

The execution of the entire project by a single team, from engineering through commissioning, ensured consistency throughout design, manufacturing, and installation. This continuity reduced technical risks, simplified project management, and accelerated equipment start-up.

Validating the system in the workshop before installation minimized the adjustments required at the client’s site and reduced the duration of the shutdown necessary to integrate the new equipment. This strategy supports a more predictable implementation process and a faster return to production.
